Solebury School's Director of Studies Rick Tony and Assistant Head of School Steve Buteux have announced that they will begin holding spring meetings with our 10th graders. "It's the perfect time to take stock of your high school accomplishments and set goals for the next two years," Rick said in an email to our 10th graders.
Students will either meet Rick for a "Doc-side chat" (Rick's office features a large portrait of Solebury School founder Doc Washburn) or a "Fireside chat" with Steve — Steve has a fireplace in his office, as well as an affinity for FDR. Students with last names beginning with letters A - M will meet with Rick, while N - Z will meet with Steve. Students' advisors are welcome to attend if possible.
Prior to their roughly 30-minute discussions, Rick has asked that students take a moment to reflect on the past two years of high school and consider their goals for the next two years. Rick and Steve will share a full picture of graduation requirements and will help 10th graders envision courses for junior and senior year. They will not actually select classes for next year, however; that will be done with their advisors later this spring. Students will also learn a little about Senior Projects and casually discuss colleges if they'd like, although a much more comprehensive discussion about college will begin junior year with Director of College Counseling Tim Gallen.
