Navigating The Admissions Process

How do I learn more about Solebury School?

  • Explore this website's sections about the ESL program, on boarding life, on the classes we offer, and on the activities program. This is a great way to discover what makes Solebury School unique.
  • Come and visit us. The best way to learn about anything is to experience it firsthand. We'd love to schedule a day for you to come and shadow a current student.
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions. Call us or e-mail us. No question is too small, and you can't call too often. This is a big decision, and we're here to help you.

  • 9th and 10th grade applicants must submit either a SLEP or a TOEFL or IELTS score
  • If the SLEP has a raw score of 50 or above (the 90th percentile or higher), then a TOEFL or IELTS score is required.
  • All 11th and 12th grade applicants must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score

When and how can I have an interview?

As indicated above, each applicant must submit  a video where they answer several questions.  This can be submitted on a DVD or you may post it on YouTube and provide us with the link. This will be used as your admissions interview. You should answer the following questions:

  • What academic subject is your favorite and why?
  • Discuss a book you recently read and why you either liked it or disliked it.
  • What activities do you participate in outside of school?
  • Which of these activities are you best at?
  • How would your friends describe you?
  • Discuss one experience you have had that has influenced who you are.

Admission decisions will be based on an evaluation of the above materials. We will be looking not just at the quality of the applicant, but also which qualified applicants fit the openings we have in each level of our ESL program.
