Girls Cross Country Runners Are Penn-Jersey League Champions

Doane Academy hosted the Penn Jersey Championship meet on Thursday, November 2nd at Millcreek Park in Willingboro, NJ. Solebury School's cross county coaches couldn't have asked for more from their team. The athletes worked hard all season without complaint and the results were more than what could have been predicted or expected. Not only did every athlete PR, but all veteran athletes had career PR's as well.

Top runners for girls cross country team were 8th grader Abby Salerno, finishing 2nd overall at 22:33, freshman Zelie Chowaiki, finishing 8th at 23:40, junior Debby Q., finishing 11th at 24:24, senior captain Cally Kerrigan, finishing 15th at 25:59, and junior Amy Tavipatana, finishing 16th at 26:23. The girls combined efforts earned them the title Penn Jersey Champions for 2017!

Very notable is Zelie Chowaiki's PR that is 6 minutes and 10 seconds off her previous best and Abby and Zelie's 2nd and 8th place overall medals.

Top runners for the boys were senior Devon Brewster, finishing 13th overall at 18:11, freshman Neptune Xu, finishing 20th at 18:58, sophomore Ben Bunting, finishing 21st at 19:10, junior Ryan Conde, finishing 23rd at 19:39, freshman Jake Schmukler, finishing 27th at 20:05, sophomore Erik Hallberg, finishing 29th at 20:12 and sophomore Aidan Holtz, finishing 31st at 20:22.
