Solebury School provides an athletic program that offers opportunities for everyone. Most of our sports teams, called the Spartans, belong to the Penn-Jersey League and compete against many private, public and parochial schools in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas.
Of Solebury’s 13 competitive sports, several teams have recently won league championships. The boys basketball team, which plays an impressive independent schedule against regionally and nationally ranked teams, has met with considerable success, and many alumni have gone on to play in college. But even athletes not dreaming of Division I scholarships enjoy playing on Solebury teams, and every student can find a team to play on. In addition to our team sports, Solebury offers 10 noncompetitive sports and fitness-oriented activities that help teens develop healthy, lifelong habits, skills, and interests.
In fall 2007, Solebury sports entered a new era with the opening of the John D. Brown Athletic Center, which houses a 21,500-square-foot gymnasium, a multipurpose room for wrestling and dance, a fitness center, and a new outdoor six-lane running track and athletic field. With these new facilities, Solebury now hosts track and field events and offers a greater variety of athletic activities.
