OUR APPEAL

Britta, Renee, Tom and the rest of us encourage you to participate in keeping Solebury School strong by making a gift to the Annual Giving Fund.   While it is important to have a few large donors of $10,000 or more each year, it is the participation of many donors, at all levels, that enables us to ultimately achieve our goal and to continue to provide the best possible Solebury education. These donations meet the School’s area of greatest need and are an important part of the operating budget.

Our Young Alumni collectively, through active participation in this challenge by each person, can fund five laptops for faculty/staff. As Young Alumni, you can demonstrate your appreciation of both the faculty and staff who taught and mentored you as students, as well as honor the alumni and friends of the school who contributed to Annual Giving and supported the school when you were here.

Do the math … and you will see that a small contribution by many can provide significant impact. You can guarantee that Solebury School remains strong (a meaningful education for current students, a place of pride for alumni, and a resource to the greater community) by contributing.

THE ANNUAL FUND

Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of educating a student at Solebury School; it never has. In fact, for this 2009-2010 school year, tuition accounts for about 82% of the School’s budget with the remainder provided through income from contributions to the Annual Fund (5%) and from the endowment (2%) and auxiliarly income (11%). This year, the total budgeted cost per student is $30,265, about $5,481 more than Solebury’s net tuition per student of $24,784; so essentially every student at Solebury receives a scholarship. Like all other independent schools, Solebury relies on the philanthropic support from parents, alumni, and friends to cover this “gap” between tuition and the real cost of educating each student.

Every gift, regardless of size, makes a difference in the lives of Solebury students.
