Home and School Association
Welcome to the Solebury Home and School Association!
The sole parent organization at Solebury School, our goal is to establish a strong connection between parents and the school and to enhance our children's experience at Solebury. By getting involved in the Home and School Association, you will help enrich school programs and activities, make new friendships, and gain closer relationships with the faculty and staff of Solebury.
We volunteer our time in a variety of ways, including: planning and organizing the spring dinner auction (save the date: Friday, May 5, 2017), supporting our student athletes through involvement in the Athletic Boosters Club, helping with school-sponsored events — such as plays, concerts and art shows — and helping to maintain our beautiful campus.
Last year, many parent volunteers accomplished a lot of great things for the Solebury community. Our spring dinner auction was a huge success! We raised more than $135,000, thanks to the generosity of parents, faculty, alumni and students, which helped bolster the Annual Fund as well as the Headmaster's Special Trip Fund and our Visual Arts programs.
Proceeds from the auction's Special Appeal — the Above & Beyond Endowed Award for Faculty and Staff — will recognize those at Solebury who have exceeded the expectations of their position, even by Solebury standards. As an endowed award, it will honor and inspire our educators for generations to come. Music teacher Cathy Block and our former Assistant Director of Admission Janice Poinsett, who retired in June after 28 years at Solebury School, shared our first Above & Beyond Endowed Award, which was presented to them at our end-of-year Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.
When your child enrolls at Solebury, you automatically become a member of the Home and School Association and are welcome to join all monthly meetings. At these meetings, we discuss different school topics and host speakers from Solebury's faculty and staff. You'll learn about important issues to us as parents, such as the college hunt, emotional intelligence for teenagers, and more. Please see the dates of our meetings to the right; we'll also post reminders in the weekly Parent E-Newsletter.
We look forward to getting to know you and hope to see you during the year!
