For Solebury School’s boarding and day students, each weekday brings a full schedule of classes and activities. A typical day for boarding students begins with breakfast at 7:45am in the dining hall with fellow students and faculty. The academic day runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Day and boarding students have lunch in the dining hall with their friends, faculty and staff in one of two periods each day. Boarding students enjoy dinner times together with friends and the faculty families who live on campus.
After school, all high school students are required to participate in after school sports or activities. Athletic teams meet 5 days a week for practice, sometimes more for games; activities meet 3 days. Eighth graders are required to participate in an upper school sport during the third trimester.
On Tuesdays, both Middle School and High School students, as well as faculty and administration, are required to attend an all-school assembly at 2:25 p.m., and then are dismissed, unless they have a scheduled sport or activity. On other days, Middle School students leave at 3:30 p.m. unless they participate in an upper school sport or activity or the Middle School after-school program.
Our weekend activities schedule is packed with many different things for boarders to do. Whether its a trip into New Hope, a trip to the mall for shopping, an evening bonfire, or just quiet time studying, you will always have options. Click here to see this year's weekend activities calendar.
"It is important to have a well-functioning community, so part of my job is to keep kids out of trouble and help them get back on track if and when they do. However, the other things I do: getting donuts and hot chocolate for the students to relieve a little of the stress during final exam time, making waffles for the boarders on a Sunday morning, or sitting down with a student to chat over a cup of tea are equally important in maintaining the spirit of the school and in raising good people in today's world." —ANNETTE MILLER, DEAN OF STUDENTS
