Trips Abroad

Each year, several Solebury School teachers arrange exciting trips both abroad and within the United States to help broaden our students’ worldviews. The trips are usually planned to coincide with the shorter winter break and spring break.

"The trips you can take are fantastic! There was an eight day, tropical marine adventure to Belize, in Central America. The kids earned their open water scuba certification, snorkeled, did marine biology field work, visited rain forest and Mayan ruins, etc., etc. There was another trip to Quebec City and Montreal, Canada where they took historical tours, ice skated, ate French food, tubed down an icy mountain and shopped at the Canadian Salvation Army. There was a dog sledding trip to Maine, a trip to Costa Rica, a trip to Mexico, a 10-day Chinese Studies trip to Beijing, China, and a trip/cruise to Greece and its islands...with more to come!"

  • Student Trip to France

The French Department of Solebuy School is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to students: we have been working on an exchange program with a school in the south of France, not far from Toulouse. The school is called Campus Saint Christophe, and is located in Masseube, France. It is similar to Solebury School in many ways: location, school philosophy, diversity... You can check out their website: http://www.institut-st-christophe.com/

Our trip to France will take place from March 6th to March 16th 2012. We will have the chance to share the life of boarding and day students, to attend classes, and to take historic and cultural tours of Toulouse, Carcassonne, and many more unforgettable places in the area. We will also spend a few days in Paris before heading home! If you are interested in sending your son or daughter on this trip, please contact Steve Benoit immediately, or send in the form below with a deposit. We need to know final numbers by October 21st, Parents Day.

    Host families!

The other piece to our exchange is the French students’ visit to Solebury. They will come between April 23rd and May 1st 2012. Please contact Christine LeGall if you are interested in hosting a French student in your home this spring. Both High schoolers and Middle schoolers are welcome to host our French friends. Please print and complete the form below. We will hold a meeting in February for all host families. The French students will be busy every day with school or field trips. They have all been studying English for at least 5 years. Do let Christine know if you have questions or concerns.
