Science Teacher

Reports To: Science Department Head & Director of Studies

Solebury School seeks a qualified, full-time Science teacher to teach a range of classes, including Physics and Chemistry. This position will start on or around August 24, 2020.

Essential Functions: 

  • Teach four sections of High School Science classes, including Chemistry and Physics (levels vary between Intro to AP)
  • Lead two trimesters of after-school activities
  • Be on duty several weekends overseeing boarding students
  • Contribute to the Solebury community outside of the classroom i.e. leading a club, attending events

Qualifications:
Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science-related field or Education
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Chemistry and Physics
  • A passion for working with students
  • Ability to collaborate within and beyond the department
  • Innovative beyond the textbook
  • Communicate ideas and expectations well
  • Maintain close relationships with families

Preferred

  • A Master’s Degree in Science-related field or Education
  • Experience teaching Engineering
  • Boarding and/or independent school experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

  • Ability to exert physical effort in work, including stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing of materials weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license required
