Strength and Conditioning Coach

Solebury School (New Hope, PA) seeks a part time Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program that aligns with three primary goals: enhancing athletic performance, minimizing the risk of injury, and promoting lifelong fitness and movement skills. In addition to overseeing individual and team conditioning, the Strength and Conditioning Coach leads the after-school group fitness program and supports other Fitness Center-based activities. This is a school year position.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise the fitness room during the academic day and after school: 20 hours a week, 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Monitor fitness room usage and determine any modifications to fitness room availability times based on student needs
  • Design and implement daily strength training and conditioning workouts for any student to enter the gym and exercise
  • Provide a beginner group fitness class as an after-school activity 3 days a week, all 3 trimesters
  • Alongside the Director of Athletics, design and implement policies and procedures for all strength and conditioning programs taking place in the Fitness Center
  • Complete an annual budgetary proposal for the program that includes routine maintenance, purchase of new equipment, and student/staff needs
  • Determine and reinforce expectations for student conduct that mirror the school’s expectations for curricular and extracurricular activities, as stated in the school’s handbook

Qualifications Required:

  • Relevant professional certification from an independent accreditation agency, i.e. NCSF CPT
  • First aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications (certification available on campus)
  • A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and strength training techniques
  • Experience and expertise in strength and conditioning programming for high school
  • populations Strong motivational abilities
  • Ability to interact positively with students, colleagues, and the public
  • Strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skill

Preferred:

BS in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes

  • Ability to visually monitor athletes

  • Sitting, standing, lifting, spotting, and carrying significant weight as appropriate for a weight training facility, reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes
