Community Life

Updated 8/28/20

A key part of the Solebury School experience is the sense of community we foster outside of the classroom. Learning at Solebury goes beyond the academic day and we are committed to providing a rich, engaged community life for all of our students, whether in-person or remote. This will require that we imagine things differently, starting with engaging our new students earlier. Throughout the summer, we are conducting remote engagement events that allow students to get to know one another, as well as parents. Information on these events, and details on how to participate, are available through email as well as by logging into the Parent Portal.

During 2020-21 school year, some ways we will nurture our community of students and adults will include:

After-school activities
Arts - visual and performing
Clubs & affinity groups
Community Service
Grade Level Events
Home and School Association
Peer-led activities for students
School Traditions such as Convocation, May Day, Parents Day
Weekend “Calls with Tom”
and much more

A special note about Athletics

Solebury remains committed to offering in-person fall sports five days a week and providing students robust opportunities for training, skill development, team building, and physical activity through on-campus athletics. However, we have canceled interscholastic athletic competition for the fall 2020 season. This decision was made given the unprecedented health concerns we face in our community. It is also in alignment with the Penn-Jersey Athletic League's decision to postpone all league-sanctioned athletic contests this fall and with decisions made by other prominent private school leagues in the greater Philadelphia area.

At this time, our plans for the winter and spring interscholastic seasons have not changed. As the seasons approach, we will make the determination while giving the highest priority to the health and safety of our community.
