Community Life

Updated 7/13/21

A key part of the Solebury School experience is the sense of community we foster for our students outside of the classroom. Learning at Solebury goes beyond the academic day and we are committed to providing a rich, engaged community life for all of our students.

For nearly 100 years, the values, norms, and feel of the Solebury School community have been passed down from class to class. We recognize that in Fall 2021, the majority of our students and parents won’t know the feel or traditions of the pre-pandemic Solebury School. With this in mind, we are mindfully approaching re-engaging our community and re-establishing Solebury’s intrinsic values and norms in our students, faculty, and staff.

How we introduce new and returning students to the 2021-22 school year is vitally important to set the tone and help kids ease back into post-pandemic socialization. With our focus on creating cohesion and inclusivity, we are optimistic that this community will return to being a place where learning and living together will feel safe and connected.

Our goal is to safely engage in interscholastic competition for the fall sports season and beyond. Solebury is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our student-athletes and maintaining flexibility to adapt if circumstances require—any changes to our approach will be informed by the most recent state and federal health guidelines. For the fall season, we will hold pre-season practices beginning August 30, with the season officially beginning September 10. Students should register for their sport by August 1 so that coaches may reach out with details around the season in August.

Afterschool Activity

Solebury School offers multiple afterschool activities such as yearbook, SLAM, yoga, rock climbing, and much more. There are limited options for any students with an approved remote learning waiver. Students should register for their afterschool activity by August 1. If you have any questions or would like to discuss an independent activity, please contact Stacie Anastasio, Director of Athletics.

Community Activities

Parent and student orientation events will be held on campus and in person on September 8 and 9, 2021. Introducing new and returning students to the 2021-22 school year is vitally important to set the tone and help them ease back into post-pandemic socialization. Toward this end, September 17 will be an all-day extravaganza that includes Solebury house competitions and bringing the entire community together for fun and collaborative activities. In addition, monthly events will provide remote participation activities for students as well, for those students who wish to participate.
