The Actor’s Toolbox: Audition & Character Essentials
Immerse yourself in the actor’s process, from audition to the final curtain call. Learn how to dive deep
into character and hone different acting methods. Campers will learn from professionals, and even have the chance to go off campus to see a live performance!
Basic Information:
Ages: 13-18 (entering 8th-12h grade)

This two week intensive camp will help actors prepare an auditioners ‘book’ including monologues and songs. Ending in an actor’s showcase of materials, young actors will study character development using the acting methods of Uda Hagan and Stella Adler as well as give them skills to help when they enter the collegiate and professional world of theatre production.
Young actors in this program will have the chance to have conversations with real professionals within the theatre industry including voice actors and touring actors.
In the ending culmination showcase, students will have the chance to choose some of the work they have prepared to present in front of friends and family.
One day will be an extended day to take a field trip to see a live performance in Philly!
Warning: acting materials will be consistent with age group occasionally containing references to drugs, mental illness, and sexual situations.
REFUND POLICY
- Full registration refunds minus $300 deposit will be granted up to May 1
- Withdrawal from camp between May 2-May 15: 75% fee returned
- Withdrawal from camp between May 15-June 15: 50% fee returned
- Withdrawal from camp after June 15: no refund
Meet Your Instructor
Hannah Dorph has been with Starcatchers for nine years and is thrilled to add this additional camp to our summer offerings! Currently pursuing a Master's in Directing and Production through NYU's Educational Theatre Program, Hannah is actively involved in developing new plays with The Lost Princess Presents alongside her work at Starcatchers. Her recent collaboration with The Verbatim Performance Lab involved crafting educational applied theatre curriculum. As an artistic consultant for the production team of "Happily: The Musical," Hannah has had the privilege of collaborating with and advising actors with Broadway, national, and international tour credits.
