More than 100 people (runners, walkers, and supporters) attended Sunday's Teach2Serve 5K for Gun Safety, organized and hosted by the students from Teach2Serve's Cohort 8. The Run/Walk also featured a one-mile fun run for kids, who were invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes. The 5K raised more than $2400, which will be donated to organizations with a proven track record for working to reduce gun violence, Everytown for Gun Safety and Sandy Hook Promise.

Cohort 8's focus is on gun safety and encouraging dialogue about how we can all work together to reduce gun violence. They selected this focus last year and began work on the 5K in the spring. At the 5K, they hosted guest speakers from Bucks Students Demand Action, Orange Wave, and Moms Demand Action. Local State Representative Helen Tai attended the event and presented each student of Cohort 8 with a House of Representatives Citation in recognition of "young citizens whose outstanding achievements are worthy of emulation."
