Leila Arbani Crooks, BSN, RN, NCSN P'22
Title/Department
While I started working at Solebury in 2015, I have been tied to the community for almost my entire life! I grew up on Phillips Mill Road on a property that once was Solebury's Lower Campus—my parents purchased it in 1976 and turned it into a restaurant and inn called Hotel du Village. They sold the business in 2013 and when I started working at Solebury I felt like I was coming home again!
Nursing is a second career for me, after working at Hotel du Village for many years. I went to nursing school after having my daughter Phoebe (class of '22) in 2004, realizing I wanted to do something different. For most of my nursing career I worked at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington NJ—first as an aide while still in school, then as a surgical nurse, charge nurse/preceptor, and eventually in Informatics as a Clinical Systems Coordinator. After 3 years in Informatics I found I really missed taking care of people and was looking to get back to patient care when I heard Solebury was looking to hire a nurse—I knew I wanted the job immediately! I started part-time in 2015 and became full-time in 2017. I became the Director of Health Services in 2020, which is my actual dream come true! I also received my National Board Certification for School Nurses in April 2022. I look forward to being at Solebury for a very long time!
