Global Education Week 2019

Monday, January 28 - Friday February 1

Solebury School is excited to host our 2nd annual Global Education Week! Here are the scheduled events thus far — check back often as we continue to confirm details.

As a preview to Global Ed Week, Dorm Head Hanna Howe is hosting a K-Pop Night in Holmquist on Saturday, January 26, with students choosing the videos and Korean-inspired snacks.

At lunch during the week, our Global Education Concentration students have organized World Language Tables, where students can stop by and learn common words/phrases from other students, faculty, and staff who are fluent in languages from German to Arabic, Thai to Urdu, Spanish to Portuguese, French to Korean, and Twi. Native snacks may be provided, as well.

Solebury School alum Keziah Groth-Tuft '13 will speak about studying abroad in Jordan and England, and minoring in Arabic.

Kristen Walker Painemilla, who works at Conservation International, will discuss how her organization works to build a healthier planet through science, policy, and partnerships with countries, communities, and companies.

Solebury School parent Molly Naughton P'19 '21 will visit our Spanish classes to speak about language fluency and multilingual careers. She is fluent in five languages and is the founder and CEO of aiaTranslations.

We'll host a "traditional dress day / flag day" for students to wear traditional clothing of their home countries and/or carry their flags with them.

Students can watch a screening of the film, LIYANA, the story of five Swazi orphaned children who turn trauma into creative fuel for an original collective fairytale, in which they send a young girl on a dangerous quest.

We'll post more events and activities throughout January!
