Every March, the BCMEA (Bucks County Music Educators Association) hosts a spring music festival, bringing together the area's most talented student musicians and singers. Auditions for the festival took place in November; more than 500 students competed for spots in select ensembles. Eight Solebury School students were selected to participate: Rebecca Bozzo (soprano), Erin Chang (alto), Yuan Lin (tenor), Danny Wang (tenor), Nash McBride (bass), Jacob Goodman (bass), Owen Graham (cello) and Teva Skovronek (flute).
The festival took place on Thursday, March 15 through Saturday, March 17. For the Choir Concert, Rebecca Bozzo, Yuan Lin, and Nash McBride were among the 125 students who performed under the baton of Dr. David Shockey from Cairn University. The concert was wonderful, with selections by Batten, Stanford, Bartok, Browning, Courtney, Shaw and Parker.
For the Orchestra Concert Sophomore sophomore Owen Graham was selected to play 4th chair cello, under the baton of Joseph Lovecchio of the WSO and the CSD, where they performed a marvelous concert with works by Wagner, Faure and Bernstein. Owen went from the BCMEA festival on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to the Early Music Festival with Stretto on Sunday, where he was the soloist for the Vivaldi Sonata in E minor, at the Grounds for Sculpture.
Due to spring break schedules, the other Solebury students who were selected for the BCMEA Festival were unable to perform.
