Solebury School is proud of its tradition of maintaining a clear vision of the past while embracing the constant ebb and flow of change in the world around us, and this is evident throughout our campus. The blend of historic and new buildings along with artwork and interior design reflects our dedication to bridging between the past and the present.

Capital funds are raised to support the acquisition, construction, or renovation of our campus and its physical plant. This year, we were thrilled to witness the careful, steady progress of Whitney’s Sycamore Patio. As one of our most favored places to be on campus, we worked thoughtfully to ensure the new shape and landscaping would be enjoyed for generations of Solebury students, families, faculty and staff to come.

In keeping with the natural slopes of this special part of campus, our maintenance team hand cut wooden beams to frame the beginning of the make over. Fresh, new mulch cultivated from our beloved and mindfully removed driveway trees is providing comfort as a recycled, eco-friendly base of the patio. Brand new sets of tables and chairs were purchased and placed to offer additional al fresco dining. An additional, cozy space complete with group-friendly style seating was centered around a brand new fire pit. This purposeful addition is perfect for all Soleburians who are known to treasure their time outside enjoying the panoramic views. Surrounding Whitney’s Sycamore Patio are thoughtfully chosen plantings created by Chris May P’19 and his company, May Horticultural Services, Inc. Chris and his team worked with Solebury, sharing our community’s love and respect for our great outdoors. His naturalist legacy will continue to grow and bloom colorful borders from season to season. We are so grateful to all the supporters of Whitney’s Sycamore Patio — a new place to work and play here at Solebury.
