2019-20 Annual Report | Solebury Fund
We are proud to report another year of continued growth—despite the continuous stream of change and challenge across our country and around the globe.
A successful Solebury Fund is critical for Solebury to continue to thrive. The second half of this school year brought sweeping, immediate changes to every facet of our lives on and off campus, and to Solebury’s operating budget. The strong support of the Solebury Fund enabled our School to seamlessly and nimbly adapt our academics and our campus to the requirements of life with COVID-19. The Solebury School community responded to the call to support their school, continuing a trend of exceeding our Solebury Fund goal by 20%, with over $425,000 raised for the Solebury Fund.
The importance of the Fund, which provides critical operational support for our School every year, was put on full display as immediate technological upgrades and adaptations were made to classrooms. Solebury’s Director of IT, Jon Freer, said it best, “Much of what we designed was built on the idea of flexibility. We wanted to allow teachers to connect with students and students to connect with each other no matter where they were joining.”
The FY20 budget included all the standard expenses, and the spring necessitated increased investments in technology and training immediately. Laptops were purchased to equip faculty and staff with the ability to seamlessly switch from in-person to remote work and professional development for remote learning was prioritized.
Solebury School recognizes how fortunate we are to have so many thoughtful, purposeful donors throughout the decades. The cumulative commitment of all levels of donor support, from the 1925 Society to our Young Alumni Society, ensures the many essential functions of our special campus remain in forward motion. From mindfully utilized departmental budget support, to the extensive and ongoing maintenance of all our new and revered indoor and outdoor spaces, to an ever-expanding weekend community event calendar, we are so very thankful to each and every one of our supporters of the Solebury Fund.
