Home and School Association
On behalf of Solebury’s Home and School Association, we’d like to welcome you to the 2017-18 Academic Year. If you are new to the school, we’d especially like to welcome you to our remarkable community. We’re glad you’re here.
The goal of the Home and School Association is to build a strong connection between parents and the school in order to strengthen and enhance our children's educational experience at Solebury. The HSA is dedicated to supporting the faculty, staff, and students. By getting involved in the Home and School Association, you help to enrich school programs and activities, make new friendships, build closer relationships with the faculty and staff, and support Solebury’s overall academic excellence.
We volunteer our time in a variety of ways, including: planning and organizing the spring dinner auction, supporting our student actors, artists and athletes, helping with school-sponsored events — such as plays, concerts, art shows, or professional speakers — and helping to maintain our beautiful campus. Through grants, we also support new and innovative ideas brought forth by faculty, staff or students designed to help grow and improve curriculum. Grants during the past year helped to establish a completive robotics team at Solebury and improve the recreational spaces for students.
Last year, parent volunteers accomplished many great things for the Solebury community. For example, the HSA sponsored annual spring dinner auction successfully helped raise more than $100,000, thanks to the generosity of parents, faculty, alumni and students. This revenue helped to bolster the School’s Annual Fund as well provide additional monies for many of the unique programs at Solebury. Additionally, proceeds from last spring’s Special Appeal — the Dining Hall Capital Improvement Project — were put to use this summer to improve the environment, comfort and climate of the dining hall, the heart of Solebury’s campus.
When your child enrolls at Solebury, you automatically become a member of the Home and School Association and are welcome to join all monthly meetings. At these meetings, we discuss different school topics, host speakers from Solebury's faculty and staff, and discuss current affairs with Tom, our Head of School. You'll also learn about important issues facing us parents, such as the college hunt, emotional intelligence for teenagers, or how to encourage healthy lifestyles. There, we also learn about the cutting edge and forward thinking instruction and teaching happening in and out of the classrooms.
We encourage you to get involved with the HSA, in any way or any amount you can. By being involved, you participate in your child’s education and support the incredible faculty, staff, students, and facilities that make Solebury the remarkable community and school it is. We wish you and your children a very successful, rewarding and positive school year and look forward to seeing you.
