By the time your children reach high school, they may not be looking for you at the classroom door anymore—but that doesn’t mean your presence matters any less.

Research consistently shows that family engagement remains just as important in high school as it is in the elementary years.

When parents volunteer on campus—whether by assisting with school events, mentoring students, supporting the arts or athletics, serving on committees, or participating in parent organizations—they strengthen students' sense of belonging, reinforce the value of education, and build stronger relationships between families and school staff. Studies have found that adolescents whose families are actively engaged in their schools demonstrate higher academic achievement, better attendance, fewer disciplinary issues, improved social-emotional well-being, and higher graduation rates.
