TEDxSoleburySchool2015: Rekha Dhillon-Richardson
Next Generation is the Green Generation
Rekha Dhillon-Richardson is a tenth grade student at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, originally from British Columbia, Canada. She has a deep passion for environmental science and the natural world. Rekha enjoys skiing, hiking, rock-climbing, rowing ... basically anything outside! In the summer of 2012, she was given the incredible opportunity to participate in a joint internship at the David Suzuki Foundation (DSF) and Justice for Girls. During this internship, she and other interns learned about pressing climate change issues and wrote blog posts for DSF. They also wrote a submission about the impact of climate change and environmental degradation on children's rights in Canada. This submission was accepted as part of the formal review of Canada's adherence to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Rekha and the other interns were invited to present to the UN in Fall 2012. She has presented her work on climate change at a youth conference in Toronto as well as at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. Rekha is currently an intern with a local Philadelphia organization, Milkcrate, which helps people live more sustainably.
